Built into the service
Every major streaming service ships its own subtitle tracks, translated and timed for its copy of the film, so the words land exactly on the scene. Everything is ready inside the player.
Setting your language
Open the subtitle or audio menu in the player, pick your language, and most apps keep that choice for everything you watch afterwards. On a TV remote it usually sits behind the down arrow or an options key.
Films worth reading
World cinema shines with good subtitles: Life Is Beautiful, Amélie, Wild Tales, Chungking Express, Spirited Away and Pan's Labyrinth among them.
Hindi and English
Bollywood favourites such as Tamasha, Bajirao Mastani and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana usually carry English subtitles on the services in India and abroad.
